Principles of
Transportation - LOGT 3231
COMPANY PRESENTATION
GUIDELINES

|
|
Overview
Your group will be required to prepare a 10 minute
presentation with handouts. You MAY be asked to
summarize your findings is a 5 minute of what are the key
points or differences of the transportation company that is
assigned to you. Your group will turn in the PowerPoint
presentation of the 10
minute set of handouts of the presentation overheads for the
other class members.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TURN IN A WRITTEN
PAPER!!!!
The goal of the project is to help you gain a greater
understanding of the types of organizations that make up the
logistics industry. Additionally, the project will help you in
three ways:
- The search process will help you develop the research
skills needed to effectively gather data for assignments in
other classes and job hunting activities.
- Report preparation and presentation will help you
enhance your written and oral communication skills, computer
proficiency, and teamwork skills (key competencies that
managers look for in new hires).
- The presentations will provide you with information on
11-12 potential employers, including an overview of their
operations, career opportunities, and key contact
names.

a presentation software package (Freelance Graphics,
PowerPoint, Harvard Graphics, etc.). You must turn in

expected to present your 10 minute overview using the overhead machine or
computer.
Use charts, graphs, and other visual aids to support your
presentation.
Be creative. Organize your presentation, practice your
delivery, develop effective transitions, and plan for
questions.
Final Suggestions: Get started now - this type of
information requires some digging. Use LEXUS/NEXUS and ABI
Inform to find current articles on the company and the
industry. Use the Internet, industry guides and stock reports
to find key numeric data. Get copies of annual reports and
other materials from the company regarding their history,
operations, and strategy. Search the Career Services Library
and call the company's Human Resource department for career
related information. Ask professors, Career Services, and
Henderson Library personnel for help (early)! | |
